AYV’S POSITION ON THE BIG BROTHER SOCIAL MEDIA OUTBURST

AYV'S POSITION ON THE BIG BROTHER SOCIAL MEDIA OUTBURST

AYV’S POSITION ON THE BIG BROTHER SOCIAL MEDIA OUTBURST

Our attention has been drawn to the continuous disparaging act of Zainab Sheriff on social media against the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire; an act that might destroy the Entertainment Industry in Sierra Leone and the talent of many young Sierra Leoneans. Businessmen would be scared to invest in the Entertainment Industry.

AYV owes it to our audience across the globe that strongly believes in the credibility and integrity of the institution to come out with the truth, which aims at keeping our thoughts, trustworthiness and reliability. We also want to continue to admonish young entertainers and talented Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad that we will continue to invest in enhancing and exposing your talents regardless of the ethical limitations of a few individuals within the Industry. We believe in Sierra Leone.

We want to hastily and emphatically state that the Africa Young Voices Media Empire is an apolitical institution that creates equal platform to all as evident in our operations. AYV will never compromise its independence to intimidate not Zainab, not anyone because integrity is what we stand for as the country’s most trusted news source. AYV is also advising individuals within the Entertainment Industry to remain professional and continue to expose their God given talents to the World through the platforms we continue to create.

We want the public to understand that the name Big Sister was not an initiative of Zeniab Sheriff. She came to AYV wanting to do a reality show called ‘Bondo Bush’. Big Sister Salone was a name suggested to her by the AYV team. Big Sister is an established Africa brand (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Movie-Television-Studio/Big-Sister-Africa-145178089467271/). The idea is for AYV and Zainab to adopt an African concept. We also want the public to understand that AYV is a Multimedia Empire and our Entertainment Channel 34 was not established to run only the Big Sister show. We invested to run several reality TV shows including Big Brother Housemate Sierra Leone, Big Sister-Salone, Salone Talent Hunt, Vocal Drift etc… Does Zainab know how many reality TV shows the BBC is running? (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/formats/reality/all). There are so many reality shows in Nigeria (https://infoguidenigeria.com/nigerian-reality-tv-shows/).

Reality TV shows are not about name, but content. The Big Brother Housemates show is about young men and women in a house and not just about women’s empowerment. The Big Sister concept, which was adopted from Big Sister Africa, and not Zainab, is to empower women and they collaborate with stakeholders to ensure success. Why are we refusing to collaborate in Sierra Leone? Innovation and business is about collaboration and content.

No doubt, the Big Sister-Salone was a success because of the intervention of Africell. The five-year agreement signed between AYV and Zedzee states that the two institutions shall share a 50/50 profit as rightly mentioned by Zainab. But she failed to mention that the agreement states the responsibilities of each party, which obliged each party to bring its investment at least 14days to the commencement of the show. Unfortunately, she failed to meet that provision of the agreement, thus prompting the intervention of Africell. Zainab also failed to inform Sierra Leoneans why the Big Sister 2018 show was postponed twice and why she abandoned the show as the Big Sister Voice of the show.

She was required to prepare the Big Sister House, provide the car and star prize, while AYV invests in the production and international transmission of the Big Sister Show (a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars investment); and to handle both the technical and content production of the show. AYV even employed an expert from the UK to develop the content and produce the show.

AYV is a very responsible media outlet that is passionate about supporting young people, hence the reason we did not come out to tell the public that she was unable to buy the car, provide the Generator for the house, kitchen utensils, fuel the generator, provide air-conditioners or provide the star prize of Le10, 000,000.00 (ten million Leones). AYV and Africell had to cover the costs. The CEO of AYV Amb. Navo had to remove three Air-conditioners from his residence and bought a Le 120 million generator to install in the Big Sister House less than 24 hours before the commencement of the Big Sister Show. All these were to be provided by Zainab Sheriff.

It is also important to state that Zainab knew everything about the proposed Big Brother show as was announced during the Big Sister eviction nights including the presentation of the star prize and media engagements (98.1 FM) where Zainab herself participated.

Following her social media outburst of rage, Isha Johansen initiated a peace talk in which AYV agreed and forgave Zainab for all her blackmailing acts.

We consider the latest Video by Zainab as a betrayal of trust and misrepresentation of the normal Sierra Leonean reputation.

Now to the crux of the matter, Zainab came to AYV expressed an interest to be part of the Big Brother show. AYV out of generosity and goodwill offered Zainab Sheriff 20% shares and Le50, 000, 000 (fifty million Leones), which she accepted. To our amazement, Zaniab called 24hrs later making a ridiculous request of Le300, 000, 000 (Three Hundred Million Leones). That’s where the problem started. AYV is not obligated to involve Zainab in any of our corporate engagements. We only acted Sierra Leonean. Big Brother will in no way kill the Big Sister show. Thousands of people have applied to participate in the Big Brother, and only twenty will be selected, which means hundreds of women are also willing to participate in the Big Sister show. People are not exploited; they applied because they are willing to take advantage of the opportunity being provided to expose their talents.

AYV strongly rejected that act of greed and selfishness from Zainab. Following our refusal to heed to her selfish interest, Zainab maliciously took to the social media blackmailing the AYV. Zainab brings nothing to table, but out of generosity we wanted to bring her onboard. No amount of blackmail will make us succumb to the distraction being caused by the social media rant.

Let it be known that no amount of emotional intimidation and reckless blackmail will change AYV’s vision for our entertainers including Zainab who is the most recent beneficiary. We have an obligation to our over four (4) million viewers across the globe to remain factual, credible, balanced and innovative. We also believe that many indigenous Sierra Leonean businesses were destroyed because of the greed to other Sierra Leoneans.

It is significant to inform our trusted followers that AYV’s legal team is working on the necessary documentation, for any possible litigation. The legal team is also

Investigating defamatory social post made by Zainab and the public will be updated as things evolve.

(Welcome 2019 with a BIG LAUGHTER😂)
By Ibrahim Sorious Samura and Mohamed Muctar Sow

Stand up comedy has been redefined and further brought to the spotlight in Sierra Leone by the Mastamind (SL) Ltd and the Freetown Comedy Club. The art of humour has been bolstered overs the years thereby bringing Stand Up Comedy to the limelight. It draws from delivering intelligent jokes to mimicking and satirising society’s fate. Whatever it is, stand up comedy has stood tall with the following craftsmen: RICHIE OBAMA, OGA WORWOR, YEMATA, FACULTY AND KINDO ARMANI.

As 2018 ends in no time, the Mastamind group is putting ALL of the above Kings of Humour into one tiny house and one single night to laugh off your stress in 2018 and welcome 2019 with a Big Laughter on the 30th December 2018 at the Miatta Conference Center. Leave your sorry behind in 2018 and cross over to 2019 with a laughter.

Comedy as they say is essential in everyone’s life. Humour solves a lot life’s issues and these guys are comic doctors.

“Humour appears to help people’s psychological and physical well-being – for example, helping folks cope with stress and adversity.
But humour has physical benefits, too. Laughter – especially a hearty laugh – has been shown to benefit your circulation, lungs and muscles (especially those around the belly area). Humour also helps people deal with pain and physical adversity. Hollywood even made a movie, Patch Adams , about the benefits of humour in clinical settings.

Let’s not forget humor’s social benefits. Not surprisingly, funny people receive positive attention and admiration. … Most studies find humor to be a highly desirable attribute, which explains why the acronym GSOH (good sense of humor) finds its way into personal and online dating posts. Finally, humor smoothies potentially awkward social and cultural interactions. Think about how much easier an uncomfortable situation can be when you joke about it.” a Research on the Importance of Humour by Peter McGraw

And back home, “We can’t deny the fact that for the past 3 years in the entertainment history of Sierra Leone these brothers have thrilled and grilled audiences with nothing but gifted mastery of humor and with skilled delivery, throwing audiences into feats of convulsive laughter; trading away their sorrows for a breath of refreshing witty and sometimes educative jokes.” ~a summation to the artistic prowess of Sierra Leone’s topnotch stand up comedians by Lawyer Mohamed Muctar Sow, CEO of Mastamind (SL) Limited.

President Bio Closes 2018 Agro-Tourism & Cultural Festival in Bonthe Island

Bonthe Municipal Island, Bonthe, Monday 24 December 2018 – His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has closed the 2018 Agro-Tourism Festival organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs at the Bonthe Municipal Island.

The event provided the platform for agricultural and tourism groups from within the district to showcase their various products.

In his keynote address, President Bio said he was pleased with the initiative of the two ministries in organising such a wonderful event geared towards showcasing both the agricultural and touristic potentials of the district.

He said his government considered agricultural and tourism as very important components in the governance structure and that they were integral in achieving economic diversification. He noted that with tourism and agriculture Bonthe district had the potential to be the breadbasket of the country.

He thanked the people of Bonthe for overwhelmingly voting him during the March-April elections. He said over the years Bonthe had been a deprived district in the country because of divisive politics, adding that his administration was ready to correct that injustice by embarking on development projects in the district.

“This once thriving district became a deprived and neglected city. As President, I will ensure that development is shared to every part of this country and Bonthe will no longer be an exception. We will revive this district and restore its lost glory.

“Very soon, we will begin the reconstruction of the sea face that will attract a lot of tourists to the district and will also construct 5 kilometer roads inside the municipality as a start. Also, plans are underway to resume the Tormabom Agricultural Center, which alone can feed the entire nation with reserve to export,” he said.

In his unending quest for human capital development, President Bio also disclosed that within the shortest period his government would open a School of Excellence in Information Technology that would offer professional courses not only for Sierra Leoneans but also for the entire subregion.

Mayor of the Bonthe Municipal Island, Joe Sandi, said they were happy to receive their son for the first time as President of the country. He said they were so far pleased with the development strives that were already taking place in the district, noting that Bonthe had been a deprived settlement that needed urgent attention to catch up with other parts of the country.

He called on the President to provide more roads as a way of boosting the tourism sector in the district. He also cited challenges in the telecommunications sector, in particular the urgent attention needed to connect the district with the rest of the world.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Jonathan Joseph Ndanema, said the festival was a way of finding suitable ways of reducing unemployment in the district and the country as a whole. He said Bonthe offered a lot of opportunities to the country which were not explored by past governments.

He stated that his ministry was working on transforming agriculture into a business adventure capable of producing enough food for consumption and for export. He said his ministry would continue the inter-ministerial collaboration and ensure the event was held annually.

Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr Memunatu Pratt, said Bonthe had made history for being the first district to host the event, saying that they would learn from the experience in Bonthe and implement similar event in other districts with Agro-tourism potentials.

She added: ”Tourism is one of the core areas of government and I am happy for the political will received from the President. This Island has great potentials and if we can unlock them, it will create jobs for the locals and as well improve the national revenue.”

The president and First Lady of Sierra Leone host a festive dinner party

Our President and First Lady celebrated the festive season by hosting a great dinner party at the Presidential Lodge. The party was for the security personnel of the republic. It was a way of saying “Thank you” and also an opportunity for the different arms dealing with security to meet in an informal atmosphere and network.

It was an intimate gathering, sitting together for a meal, the security service personnel had the opportunity to talk and dance as a group. The personal touch of the First Lady serving her specially made cocktail, made the evening extra special.

Music was supplied by both the Military and police band.

Zainab Sheriff Setting the Records Straight – Big Brother and Big Sister drama

My intention was for AYV and I to have a fair deal with Big Sister Salone. We signed a 50-50% contract for five years. Africell was never a party to our contract. They were meant to be sponsors and to use the Big sister platform to sell their brand. I little imagined that somewhere down d line Africell would develop interest in such a way as to request for partnership and ask for equal share with AYV, to the exclusion of Zedzee. In other words Africell and AYV now settled for 50/50.

It was part of our contract with AYV for both Zedzee and AYV to help only in promoting Big Sister and provide creative contents for it and never to undertake activities that will undermine d show. The inclusion of male housemates in d house and the increase of d star prize were all going to be part of that promotion in d next Big Sister which would be dubbed Big Sister Season 2: Besties

Both Africell and AYV are now making it look like d Big Brother show is completely different from d Big Sister. Any right thinking person would realize that d Big Sister Salone was meant to be our own unique version of Big Brother international with all its twists. They have the resources to provide a Star Prize that’s far above d Big Sister star prize. They knew I was struggling with resources for Big Sister so that’s why they intend to use their resources to dwarf my show when we have a five-year agreement. My call to them was 4 us to use whatever available resources to make d next edition of Big Sister bigger and better.

Why the mad rush!? Well apparently d self-styled youth ambassador Anthony Navo(jnr) wanted to preempt Star TV who initially stated their intention of doing Big Brother immediately after the AYV Big Sister show. That was how he rushed into it without obtainining the franchise. Even as I make this statement the Big Brother franchise is yet to be fully obtained.

Some surrugates of AYV or Africell have tried to present me in bad light in social media by ignoring my right to ask AYV to stick to our agreement. Some said Big Sister was never my brainchild. But I simply refer those people to Junior Navo’s statement on d joint press conference we had in launching d premier Big Sister this year. They can find it on youtube. I also invite them to answer d question “why would Navo want to offer me 20% in d Big Brother if the previous show was never my idea? I was never in support of organizing a Big Brother show when we already have the Sierra Leonean answer to Big Brother which is Big Sister. Besides there is no Big Brother competition internationally that would require us to send candidates. All we have is Big Brother Nija for Nigerians exclusively. Big Brother Africa which was d continental show stopped airing in 2014. So this was never about money but as a popular housemete of Big Brother Africa I felt the urge to do something unique. Hence Big Sister Salone, a show which attracted global attention to SL.

I write this piece not to blackmail AYV or Africell but for my fans who are concerned about this ugly development to know d true picture from no less a person than me. I am going to support this statement with a live recording over the weekend to give further details. I also wish to assert my rights in the court of law.

Plus let it be known by d MD of Africell or any person that I cannot be intimidated by anybody. Even if they use d authorities of d state like they’ve been doing or attempt to make me look like an enemy of d powers that be I am unrelenting. My love 4 Salone entertainment and Salone reigns supreme. All I want is to give my fans and Sierra Leoneans the best.

Stay tuned to Zainab O. Sheriff

Tony As – Biography

“Music inspired by parenthood, relationships and, the daily hustle…” Tony As describes his music as ‘a mature sophisticated urban vibe’. Being both honest and open wanting listeners to be able to ‘feel what he’s saying’- identify fully or partly with the content whether having either experienced or witnessed the themes themselves. The style has also been described as ‘charismatic’ with fuses of Reggae, Soul, Funk and other such genres. Additional musical influences include Hip Hop, Soul and, Alternative Rock to the more niche genres like Zouk and Brazilika.

As well as the satisfaction of creating music Tony As thrives on the live performance, as he puts it; ‘being able look people in the eye and share his story with them whilst witnessing their reactions first hand’ is what it’s all about. A big part of his performance is engaging the crowd, immersing them in the whole experience and emotion intended behind every song, whether that’s, laughing, crying or smiling.

The journey of Tony As started in 2010 though before that he had first embraced poetry using it as a way to express himself, the poetry later evolve into rapping and then the rapping was then complemented by singing. During the journey he has since performed at various events and venues throughout the
UK from London, Bristol to Manchester.

With a love of wordplay and storytelling his lyricism is complimented by a love for melody and harmony, so in addition to the rapping he regularly writes and sings catchy hooks which naturally invite audiences to sing along. Tony As is able and comfortable performing with housebands and musicians but
initially performs just needing one microphone and a backing track. He has recently acquired his own dedicated DJ to travel with him who can facilitate supporting his performances.

The name Tony As means he came ‘as’ Tony, an approachable and authentic artist who on a day to day basis is a dedicated father and family man, one who having witnessed and experienced many things in life uses his gift of creating and performing music to tell his story and in the process, forming real and lasting connections with people along the way.
