East End Derby set to Climax The Sierra Leone Premier League as Ports Authority Set to Engage East End Lions

The Sierra Leone Premier League for the past two months have indeed witnessed great matches which in turn, excited the fans so much that they yearn for more.

In the East part of Freetown, especially Clinetown, Fourah Bay, Up Gun, Dockyard and its environs, there are only two names synonymous to frequent arguments by fans as to which is the best. These are moments even neutrals could not control the euphoria of fanatism on the minds of these arch rival fans of Ports Authority and East End Lions.

The meeting of these two was so symbolic during the twentieth century that, Easterners declared that day a holiday whenever they meet. Times have really changed with innovation and dynamism a mindset to create the positive.

Fc Kallon’s meeting with East End Lions on March 31st 2019 was indeed a historic moment in Sierra Leone Football, but there’s no match so big in the eyes of Easterners than that of the Water Front Boys meeting the Killers.

Classified amongst the best football showpiece so far in the history of Sierra Leone Football, there’s no better way to draw a close to the first round of the Sierra Leone Premier League season than a coincidence of Ports Authority playing East End Lions, no matter the difference in their respective position on the log.

On Wednesday, 10th April 2019, another history is set to be made in the calendar of the 2018/19 Premier League as two old foes come face to face at the Siaka Stevens Stadium playing for pride, honour and Purpose.

Being a rejuvenated side under new head coach Ajina Sesay with three wins and one loss, the Water Front Boys may just think there is no better moment of meeting East End Lions than this, coming from a three match winning spree.

East End Lions may be still buoyed by their two-goal riot against league leaders Fc Kallon on 31st March coupled up with some brilliant performances, and will have it in mind as an opportunity to go top of the log with even draw after Wednesday evening.

The stakes are just too high for both teams as a win for Ports Authority will take them a point above Central Parade who they defeated on Sunday evening by two goals to nil with twenty two (22) points and a touching distance of just one point from league leaders Fc Kallon and East End Lions, who are both locked on with twenty three (23) points each, separated by one goal.

The East End Killers are the team yet to beat boasting to have the league’s meanest defence with just two goals allowed, while Ports Authority despite loosing four, could boast of the same number of wins to Lions with six and having the record to have drawn the least number of matches with just one.

Whatever way Wednesday’s match go, the fans are sure to be entertained with the anticipation by both teams fans, just adding spice to one of the Sierra Leone Premier League biggest fixture of all time.
