A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD STABS HIS SIERRA LEOANEAN FATHER TO DEATH IN MARYLAND

A Bowie teenager has been arrested and charged in the murder of his father at a Prince George’s County park Friday. Dr Baba Koroma, he was killed by his own son on Friday the 26th of July 2019 at 1 30 pm on their way home from the library, when his son stabbed him with a knife multiple times while he was driving which causes his death.

PGPD Detectives Announce Arrest in City Of Bowie Homicide PGPD Homicide as detectives arrested 17 year-old Barba Koroma of Bowie for killing his father in the city of Bowie on Friday. The victim is 62 year-old Barba Koroma, also of Bowie. The 17 year-old is being charged as an adult. Suspect: 17 year-old Barba Koroma Preliminary, on July 26th, around 4:30 pm, City of Bowie Police officers responded to the area of Allen Pond Park in the 3300 block of North view Drive for the report of a domestic incident involving a vehicle collision.

Once on scene, they discovered a SUV that had crashed into a fence. In a wooded area very near to the collision site, the victim was located on the ground suffering from trauma to the body. Prince George’s County Fire and EMS arrived and despite all lifesaving measures, the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Patrol officers also located the suspect on scene walking out of the wooded area. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. He was then transported to the PGPD Homicide Unit for questioning. Through the course of their investigation, PGPD Homicide Detectives determined that the 17 year-old and his father were involved in a dispute inside the vehicle as the father was driving.

The son admitted to stabbing the father just before the crash. After the collision, the son removed the victim from the vehicle and dragged him into the nearby wooded area. Early that morning, detectives charged 17 year-old Barba Koroma with 1st and 2nd degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides within the City of Bowie.

President Weah Honours President Bio in Liberia Monrovia, Friday 26th July 2019 – His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has been conferred one of the highest honours in Liberia by His Excellency President George M. Weah, Sr. during the official commemoration of 172 Independence Anniversary of Liberia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex , Montserrado County.

Reading the citation for the conferment of the honour, the Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia, Jervis A. Witherspoon paid glowing tribute to His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio for his democratic credential as the former military Head of State who laid the foundation for peace and the return of multi-party democracy in Sierra Leone in the late nineties.“His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio presided over the conduct of the first democratic elections in Sierra Leone in nearly three decades.

He voluntarily handed-over power to the democratically elected Government of the late President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah and initiated the Sierra Leone Civil War Peace Settlement. He is also the first former military Head of State to be democratically elected as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone,” the citation stated. The Chief of Protocol also spoke about His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s efforts in peacekeeping in Liberia as part of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).

His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s peacekeeping mission in the early nineties in Liberia through ECOMOG demonstrated the love and commitment he has for the country and people of Liberia.Mr. Witherspoon also catalogued His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s humanitarian efforts in Sierra Leone through the Maada and Fatima Bio Foundation. He singled out the Foundation’s work during the Ebola outbreak in supporting victims. Over the years, the Foundation has also supported victims and families affected by natural disasters such as the flooding and mudslide.During the citation, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio was also praised for his tremendous achievements over the last one year in championing human capital development, demonstrating political will in the fight against corruption, restoring fiscal credibility to Sierra Leone among others.

He has also shown great leadership at the African Union as Chairman of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government for the reform of the United Nations.After reading the citation by the Chief of Protocol, His Excellency President George M. Weah, Sr. conferred on His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio the honour of Knight Grand Cordon, Most Venerable Order of the Pioneers (KGC – MVOP). Amidst the ovation from Liberians at the Sports Complex, His Excellency President George M. Weah decorated his colleague and brother, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio with the insignia of the honour as he was flanked by his wife, Her Excellency the First Lady, Madam Fatima Bio.

His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio, the First Lady and other members of his entourage returned to Sierra Leone after the official commemoration of 172nd Independence Anniversary.

Champions of the just concluded Sierra Leone Premier League, East End Lions, will on Saturday, 27th July parade with their championship winning trophy starting at Shell, ending it at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.

The “Killers” who went through the whole season without facing defeat winning thirteen (13), drawing eleven (11) and accumulating a total of 50 points in the process, would have their victory parade in celebration of the club’s twelfth (12) championship trophy in it history.

Highlighting preparations ahead of Saturday’s celebration, Chairman of East End Lions football club, ambassador Anthony Navo Jr says, the club’s executive has put every modality in place for a safe, peaceful and successful trophy parade. He said his executive is aware of the alarming rate of violence by young boys during large gatherings, and it’s in that case they have sought the full presence of security for a well protected and undisturbed parade.

“Security presence in a gathering of people is one paramount factor anyone must be aware of, and as a responsible club, we have put strong measures in place to see East End Lions fans from all over the country be well protected on that day”, the AYV Media empire CEO intimates.

He further informed that, the club is expecting the presence of every supporter of East End Lions across the four corners of the country to be part of Saturday’s celebration.

“Our fan clubs from all across the country have been alerted, ranging from, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Kono and every other district in the provinces.

“Fans and sympathisers are expected to dress in their club attires on that day in celebrating our hard-earned glory”, he continued.

Mr Navo expressed joy to see East End Lions go through a league season “Invincible” in his first year as Chairman of the famous Killers.

“I believe we have the squad and financial power to win subsequent leagues.

According to the deputy media officer of East End Lions Football Club, Adikalie Kanu Kanu, the parade will start at Shell New Road in the far East at exactly 9:00 Am and ends at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in the afternoon.

During her previous visit in Sierra Leone, Naomi iye Kargbo donates over 100 Sanitary pads to needy girls in Binkolo, Northern Sierra Leone, and shared clothes to over 200 children. Mis Naomi, is the founder and CEO of The Naomi Kay Foundation a non governmental organisation that usually supports underprivileged children in Sierra Leone.

Menstruation and menstrual practices still face many social, cultural, and religious restrictions which are today a big barrier in the path of menstrual hygiene management.

In many parts of Sierra Leone, especially the rural areas, girls are not prepared and aware about menstruation so they usually face difficulties and challenges at home, schools, and their communities. It will surprise you to know that some of these girls don’t have the knowledge about sanitary pads and cannot even afford one monthly.

The Naomi Kay Foundation has therefore supported over one Hundred girls with Sanitary pads and Menstrual hygiene sensitisation, creating awareness among adolescent girls about the importance of using Sanitary pads.

“I was using rags because I have no clue about sanitary pads, I thank God for Naomi Kay Foundation who sensitised me on the importance of it, As from now I promised to always used sanitary pads, one of the beneficiaries lamented.

Miss Naomi has little but her kind gesture led her to reach the People of Binkolo, Safrokoh Limba Chiefdom.

Last year, she celebrate her birthday in Russia and simultaneously fed hundreds of youth’s through Salon Lives Matter, in Freetown.

TECHFRICA IS GIVING IMPACT LOCALLY & GLOBALLY

Techfrica is an African technology and mobile application/web development company based in Boston, MA of USA. They recently decided to give back to those who supported them when they first launched their for-profit business. This was done by creating and giving some key business entities a mobile app for the public to access their website and services easily through his/her mobile phone. A great deed indeed!

In July 2019, Techfrica will be turning 2 years old and saw this as a special opportunity to give mobile apps to 3 of their initial supporters for free. The 3 beneficiaries of these tokens of appreciation gifts were Africans in Boston, Suya Joint and Afrimericanone, which are all based in or near Boston, MA of USA.

Prior to all these valuable donations, the Techfrica brand has had a long history in the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts as a whole. They originally started one of the first local African night clubs in 1998.

Then, an African Radio show called The African Radio Show back in 2005, which was on a local FM station called Choice 102.9FM. In 2006, they took a leap of faith and went online as one of the first African internet radio stations in the USA called African Radio Online.

Fast forward to 2015, they decided to take another leap of faith and launched their technology company called Techfrica and a mobile app company called Appsfrica.

Shortly afterwards, they started working on their first app to bring not only their radio but other radio stations and artist music to a larger audience. Thus, audiofrica was born, which is one of the select few music apps for both Continental Africa and African Diaspora to download and stream content.

For 2019, Techfrica has a few mobile apps to launch later this year, such as a ride sharing (Ridefrica/Drivefrica), video sharing (Vidsfrica), films/movies streaming (Filmfrica), text messaging (Supfrica), and so on in the USA and Africa respectively. They’ll continue to offer mobile apps and web designs as a service to clients as well as provide a shared collaborative workspace (Collabfrica) that meets the social and financial needs of the African Diaspora and other ethnicities soon.

It must be mentioned that Techfrica is doing business in Sierra Leone and has built a team on-the-ground to handle its daily operations, which has led to employment opportunities for local individuals.

As this year continues and 2020 is soon to come, Techfrica looks forward to a future of giving at least one app away to the community every year to follow. So long as they’re giving impact locally and globally, they’ll continue to receive support and more people will know about them and follow their brand. Get to know Douglas Davis Labor popularly known as DJ Double D however he is best known for his catchphrase as Mr Whuuzuup on Capital Radio. A producer and presenter who started out on Capital Radio and now AYV TV. His enthusiasm for entertainment makes him to wanting to work hard and create a plan that will see Sierra Leone music to an international level in the near future.

Born in Sierra Leone, Wilberforce, left at the age of 3 to America where he lived, grew up and went schooling in Philadelphia and later in New York. After schooling he went back to Sierra Leone to pursue his career path and runs a successful business. He has his own DStv and MoneyGram shop in Lumely along side continuing with his music career. Music has always been his passion and have been doing so for some time now.

He is currently working on a full album under well known LP studios and executive, produced by Big Fad and The Final Touch Entertainment (XO owned by Double D). The album is titled FREETONG. His new song Worwor, comes from an inspiration from seeing an homeless man and a woman dancing on New Years Eve without care in the world.

President Bio Attended Queen’s Birthday, Hosted by UK Prime Minister at No.10 Downing Street

London, Saturday 8th June 2019 – His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has attended the Queen’s Official Birthday Parade which was marked by Trooping the Colour at Horse Guards Parade, St James Park.

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio was guest of the United Kingdom Prime Minister, Theresa May and husband, Mr Philip May at this year’s official birthday commemoration of the Queen. Both the Prime Minister and President Bio sat side by side as they watched the ceremony at the Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall.

The Queen was joined by members of her family including the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The Duke of Edinburgh, who celebrates his 98th birthday on Monday 10th June, has retired from public duties and did not attend.

The Queen has earlier celebrated her 93rd birthday in April but the trooping the colour ceremony originated from the traditional preparations for battle and has commemorated the birthday of the sovereign for more than 250 years.

Earlier, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio was hosted by the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May at No. 10 Downing Street as part of the commemoration of the Queen’s Birthday ceremony and both the Prime Minister and President Bio also discussed about the just-concluded UK-Sierra Leone Trade and Investment Conference.

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio was accompanied to Downing Street and the Trooping the Colour Parade by the outgoing Sierra Leone High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E Tamba Lamina. H.E Tamba Lamina has been highly commended by Sierra Leoneans and investors for his outstanding leadership in organising the Trade and Investment Conference.

The invitation of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio by UK Prime Minister, Theresa May to the Queen’s Birthday Parade and his visit to No.10 Downing Street will continue to demonstrate the UK Government’s confidence in the impressive Leadership of President Bio and his Government.
