Hawa Kamara made history in this year’s Miss. Universe competition when she became the first contestant to represent The Republic of Sierra Leone. According to ET, “The 65th Miss Universe Competition will air live from the Philippines on Sunday, Jan. 29, starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.” The website also states that “Steve Harvey is back to host the three-hour event, with Ashley Graham serving as backstage host.”
Kamara who is featured on the Miss Universe website was born in Kono, the land of diamonds, and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. After graduating from Methodist Girls High School, one of the most prestigious girl’s schools in Freetown, she began traveling and competing in beauty pageants. On the weekends, Kamara spends her time volunteering by talking to young girls about the importance of education.
She is looking forward to meeting all of the contestants representing their country in the competition and hopes to continue to make history by taking home the crown.

Nasser Ayoub is a Sierra Leonean musician, businessman, and philanthropist. First of all, he was born in Sefadu. The devoted businessman hails from the Eastern Province of Kono as much as he attended the Lebanese International School in Freetown. Family wise, Nasser is married for fifteen years and the proud father of a thirteen years old daughter and an eight years old son. Therefore, in addition to his career, he is also a husband and a father.
The proud Sierra Leonean trailblazer is also a well known for his civil rights advocacy. Due to this, Ayoub petitions, for the citizenship of people of none African heritage who were born a raised in Sierra Leone. What is more, Nasser Ayoub is also actively involved with several charitable organizations. In defiance of being a businessman, Nasser actively promotes Sierra Leonean Music on the international scene. Wherefore, rather than leave them be, he uses his own personal funds to support young people in the entertainment industry.

ABIZZY: SINGER, SONGWRITER AND BASED IN THE US/SIGNED TO MUSIC LABEL BLACK LEO
ABizzy, is one of the hottest singer and songwriter from Freetown, Sierra Leone based in the U.S. From 2001 to 2006 he was signed to one of the biggest music labels in Freetown city (Black Leo). Black Leo tours and shows drew some of the biggest crowds you could ever imagine in Freetown City. At that time ABizzy was the 3rd man in Black Leo and had hits with Super Laj like “Baby No Cry”, “U Na D Wan”, Javely “Good Conversation” La d Boss “Girl You Nor Know ” and also featured on Mad Man’s “True Solider”.
Then in 2007 he joined forces with Black Don to create one of Sierra Leone’s elite R&B group “Black Sensation” . These multitalented superstars also known as “The Ladies Man” were the first to open up for SLMTV debut in Maryland. In 2009 Black Sensation released their first album in Columbus, Ohio titled “The Ladies Man”. Hits songs like “Beautiful”, “Fasin Pan U”, “Champion Lover” and many other songs rock the radio. In 2010 “Black Sensation” were nominated for best requested song on SLMTV and won the award. Later that year they both decided to start working on their individual solo projects.
2011 is the year of ABizzy, cause he’s been mad busy. With the release of His hit single and video “Tofi Money”, ABizzy left his fans in great anticipation for the album. FRANCIS CONTEH: KNOWN AS FCON, A SINGER/SONG WRITER
FCon is a singer/song writer. He was born in a small village in Sierra Leone, West Africa under the birth name Francis Conteh. His father was amputated during the 11years of civil war. This tragedy caused him and his family to relocate to the capital city Freetown where he was exposed to a thriving music scene.
After relocating to northern Sierra Leone at the end of the war, his father died in May 2010. His mother, sisters, brothers and daughter still reside in northern Sierra Leone while FCon relocated to Charlotte, NC after meeting his wife in 2010. He loves music and spending time with friends. Throughout life, music has been his inspiration and companion through hard times. He was introduced to music through church as a child in choir, and later started recording at local studios at a young age.
FCon feels truly blessed to have made it to the US, even though now he faces a whole new world of struggles in pursuit of higher education and work. He’s one of the most creative writers the African fans have yet to discover. Singing about his life, struggles and culture allow his fans to relate to his music on a personal level. He still turns to music when he feels down, and especially when missing home; Sierra Leone, a place of tremendous natural beauty, and love for the simple life.
Mohamed Sheriff, commonly known by his artist name, “B-Me” was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone on April 25th. He later moved to Portland, Oregon in the United States at a very young age and resided there for over twelve years.
He developed a strong interest in basketball and played on the varsity team at Parkrose High School but unfortunately, B-Me started hanging out with the wrong crowd and after a stream of incidents and run ins with the law, his father requested for him to to be sent back to Sierra Leone to learn about his origins.
Upon arrival, his father seized his passport and swore to never send him back. It was a very stressful time in his life because he had to cope with the culture and traditions of a now foreign land he once called home.
After a stream of rebellious acts, he decided to make the best of the situation and his new surroundings and it was then that he found and used music as his coping mechanism. He was later approached by music producer Blaze Beats one night at the beach after hearing him freestyle with a few of his friends. Blaze invited B-Me and a couple other artist to his studio and the minute B-Me entered the booth he couldn’t stop freestyling and ended up recording his first solo track titled “Gangster”. Blaze not only produced B-Me’s tracks but he also served as a mentor and coach by giving him the opportunity and a place to learn more about the concept of music by signing him to the hip hop group “Coast to Coast”.
As time went by, the group started experiencing internal issues which forced B-Me to further his career as a solo self-made artist. In 2013, he recorded his first mixtape titled “Road To Success” which he personally went around town selling and sold over 1,000 copies.
B-Me used the revenue from his sales along with the help from his friend Billz Leone to build there own studio and record label which they called No Dulling Entertainment. As the label started developing it’s buzz, Sierra Leone was struck with the horrendous Ebola virus and B-Me figured the best way he could help raise awareness and make a change was through the arts and his music and that’s when he released his hit record “Ebola” which featured famous Jamaican artist Gregory Isaac’s son J-Nile and Po.Allova from Jamaica.
He’s also had music collaborations with numerous artist around the world including Dj Turf Boss, dj lickle owner of street vibez radio in the u.k, Zimbabwean producer Sinister, Ugandan Dj, Dj Rocky, abizzy, and many more. Some of his other famous tracks such as “Up Tik” and “Range Rover” has been played in clubs and radio stations in the U.S., U.K., and Jamaica and has featured on the Top 10 hits, for about four months in a row on the nation’s biggest and most popular broadcasting service SLBC. Uptik also was number one on the slbc top 10 for 3 weeks, beating top artist like Emmerson, Dallas B, kao denero and etc.
B-Me’s road to success has definitely not been an easy one but you can definitely expect more to come from this artist as he plans to drop his debut album titled “Golden Boy” next year which features a lot of new artist they recently signed to No Dulling Entertainment.
