Biography

Sean Eazie was born Edward Conteh to a christian family of six. He is a singer/songwriter, aspiring Philanthropist, a women and girls’ advocate. He was born in the late 80s, in Magburaka Northern Sierra Leone. He is the first son to Abdul Patrick Conteh and Marian Mariatu Conteh (late). He spent most of his childhood in his hometown and after losing his mother to a car crash in 2006, he was forced to move to Makeni, where he lived with one of his uncles Patrick L. Conteh.

Sean Eazie attended the Roman Catholic Primary school, the Government Secondary School for boys at Bathmorie Magburaka, and Saint Francis Secondary school Makeni respectively. In 2009, he moved to Freetown and in 2011, he gained admission at Fourah Bay College and graduated with a B.Sci. in Peace and Conflict Studies in 2015. He discovered his talent in music in his early days, especially during his days at high school a time when he represented his school and came first in an inter secondary shcools singing competition in 2007.

He is currently recording his Extended Play (EP) titled “The Best Is Yet To Come” and he is signed to Skills Entertainment. He came to limelight in 2016 after the release of his first single “NEVER SAY NEVER” off his EP. It became an instant success in the first week and top many radio charts nationally. Aside from that, the song also became a theme song for Life-By-Design and “Moment With Joe” two popular reality TV shows.

Since then, his passion for music has grown wide to the envy of many. His choice of words (lyrics) has put him to higher height with the evolving music industry. Sean Eazie has consistently been active in the entertainment industry and has put out a couple of other songs such as Save Our Women And Girls, The Drums, Kaderu Dae and quiet recently Close 2 You, and it’s gradually becoming a success.

Aside from that, he has collaborated with a bundle of other musicians in a seemingly endless list of songs. His desire for good music and the the passion to lend a hand to where it is lacking is a force to reckon with. With the right management, it is hugely evident that Sean Eazie is certainly on of the acts from Sierra Leone with huge potentials of succeeding in the music industry.

Barely few months to the end of his term of office, President Koroma has hit a big time jackpot as a diamond of high value has been discovered in the country. The discovery of another “STAR OF SIERRA LEONE” could not have come at a better time. Though the diamond was discovered by a private businessman (Pastor Emmanuel Momoh), nevertheless the government stands to gain from this find by way of commission on the diamond (taxes). The diamond is said to be 709 carat. Its market value is yet to be determined.

What is expected by way of accruals from this find for the government is some 15% – 20% of the present market value of the diamond. This percentage is expected to be the 6% tax levied on alluvial diamonds found in the country and charges to be paid to the Government Gold and Diamond Office (GGDO). The bulk of the proceeds from the sale of this diamond will go to the owner of the find after taxes have been deducted.

Sources say that when the diamond was found, the chief was alerted who in turn informed the Mines minister. The owner of the diamond was then brought with the diamond to State house in Freetown. President Koroma is said to have instructed the relevant offices dealing with diamonds to ensure that proper valuation of the mineral is done and any interested buyer should come to Sierra Leone where the sale should take place in an atmosphere of transparency.

President Koroma can be said to be a very lucky leader as even as he is getting ready to leave office, a diamond of such value has been found, albeit by a private registered miner. One observer called H.E. “luck bundle” and another said the president has scored the last minute goal.

According to the government spokesman the accruals from the sale of this diamond in the form of tax will be used in the development of the country. It could be recalled that the last time that a diamond of such value was discovered was in 1971 and was labeled the “Star of Sierra Leone”. That find is said to be 968 carat whilst this present one is 709 carat.

This country has been blessed by God but our politicians have not worked in the interest of the people. In times past diamonds with high value have been found and unscrupulous politicians have secretly connived with the miners to sell them overseas with no benefit to the country. This time round president Koroma is said to be determined to ensure that the sale takes place in the country and both the government and the miner get what they deserve.

Who discovered the diamond?

Pa Boama picked the diamond passed it on to Pastor Emmanuel Momoh who allegedly owned the land. Pastor, according to report informed PC Saquee who informed Government agencies. Sources further states that Pastor Emmanuel Momoh took alluvial mining license of Le600,000 from NRA office.

Some authorities are claiming that the diamond is picked up by unlicensed miner and therefore illegal making it become state property. If it’s proven that the property bongs to the state, the poor Pastors destiny will be in the hands of supreme executive authority to compensate him. But if he’s the owner as documented by NRA receipt the question comes to payment of either 3% or 15%.

3 years ago Sam Sumana was involved in similar diamond quagmire, they ended up paying 15%. But when false lady later got involved in similar diamond case, by Donald Trump’s executive order, the rate was automatically reduced to 3% and they paid pittance. The diamond was presented to President Koroma

A 706/709 carat diamond was presented to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma yesterday evening (Wednesday March 15th, 2017) by Paramount Chief Paul N. Saquee The 5 of Tankoro Chiefdom in Kono district led by the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Honourable Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray at State House.

According to the Mines Minister, the diamond was discovered by Pastor Emmanuel A. Momoh who is engaged in alluvial mining at Koyadu village in Tankoro Chiefdom. Receiving the diamond President Koroma thanked the chief and his people for not smuggling the diamond out of the country. He underscored the importance of selling such a diamond here as it will clearly give the owners what is due them and benefit the country as a whole. The president assured that the selling process would be transparent and to the highest bidder.

The worth of the diamond found

Worth of the A single 25-carat portion is likely to sell for $2.2 million to $3.6 million (£1.78 million to £2.75 million), or $88,000 to $144,000 for a single carat.

INTERVIEW WITH LATOYA RHAGE BIANCA: A SINGER AND SONG WRITER

Describe LaToya in one sentence.
LaToya in a nutshell is an eccentric, ambitious, loyal and recluse person.

How did you come about the name Rhage?
I read keenly; so I came across a character in a novel named Rhage that I felt connected to. Interestingly, it was a male character but the author portrayed him in a way I felt was an expression of me as a person.
Basically, I stole the name from a book. (laughs)

How is it like being a woman in the entertainment industry?

It was very difficult as a female in the entertainment industry. I was pushed into the limelight at a very young age and it was tough with all the attention, rumors and society’s stereotypical opinions of women in the music industry. My guard always had to be up. Dealing with raw and uncut versions of the world when you’re doing music. Only my fans support and my passion for music kept me going.

You’ve been away for so long, are you currently working on anything?

For now, NO. I’m not working on anything at the moment. I’m currently studying and working, but I’ve promised my fans that I will make time and find a producer that is a perfect fit for me and the type of music I want to release; rest assured, I’ll surprise my fans even before I finish my degree.

You’ve ventured in business, how did Toya’s Creations come about?

I have been actively involved in my mother’s business; LaToya’s Enterprises, so venturing into Toya’s Creations was not too much of a stretch for me. It is a small gift store that I can build and grow into something big by God’s Grace.

What is your advice to young people (especially girls) who want to venture into music and business as well.

I was so tired of the sexism and imprudent statements from men, so opening my own business I see it as a way to show every Sierra Leonean that anything is possible. People who have seen my work on social media can tell its possible to make a mark, to be independent and to be self sufficient. It takes hard work and it may not be successful as you want it to be in the beginning, but perseverance plus prayer always pay off.

Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara aka JFK, who is currently an aspiring APC flagbearer and Presidential hopeful, intimated during an exclusive interview with this writer that his loyalty to the APC party is undoubtedly unshakable contrary to what is peddled on the Social Media that he intends forming a new political party if denied the APC ticket for the Presidential election.

His comments came in the wake of an address he made during an Auradicals Club Dinner (one of the traditional Fourah Bay College Clubs) in which he categorically maintained that he is confident that with the support and networking of both past and current members of the club great things can be achieved nation-wide.

As usual ,the annual dinner is an informal and interactive meeting held in a relaxed atmosphere during which members, both current and past, from all walks of life engage in friendly discussions on issues, strategize on how to chart the way forward to take the club to a higher height. “It is not a political club or any mercenary group with diabolic plans,” he informed this writer adding that contrary to what one Social Media posting purported that “what I stated is lack of respect for the sanctity of the APC” is a totally wrong interpretation, completely blown out of context and underscores how he holds the APC in high esteem stressing that nothing will make him turn his back on the party that he has strong faith in to positively turn around the socio-economic landscape of the country.

“May be it was a figment of the imagination on the part of the writer of that posting to misleadingly state that I am using the APC ‘as a vessel to project my radical ambition’ and that my address to members of the Auradicals Club was ‘a potential move to pitch tent with the opposition if I am denied the APC ticket’ are most unfortunate expressed opinions,” he averred. Furthermore, he stated that he is not politically overzealous and blindly ambitious but strongly believes that he has the innate qualities, qualifications and vast experience to become a successful President of this nation to continue with the remarkable development strides, taking off from where President Koroma left whilst also he will infuse new workable initiatives that will continue to improve the standard of living for the majority of the citizenry as well as deepening the respect that Sierra Leone commands amongst the comity of nations.

“ Stating that no tribe, political party, journalism will stop us from achieving our dream to have the right personality to move this country forward is a manifestation of self-assertiveness also depicting that no negative move from any quarter will cow us down or dampen our spirits to translate that dream as I in particular have no skeleton in the cupboard,” the erudite legal luminary cum politician eloquently asserted and maintained that indeed, “no Political Party can stop us as we have worked for it for so long, building the solid platform to make our country a better place to live in.”

He noted that the Auradicals Club is a microcosm of the macrocosm explaining that it is a miniature Sierra Leone as the club draws its membership contains individuals from different tribes, political coloration, religious and family backgrounds.

The show will not have been a success without our wonderful partners, judges, guests of honour, our past year winners, reigning kings and queens, djs, MC’s, artists, dancers, photographers, chefs, backstage team, promoters (turntuploud),lovely guests and supporters.

WHO IS HON. CHIEF JOSEPH FITZGERALD KAMARA (JFK)?

Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara is currently Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice. An appointment he merited from his unblemished stewardship while serving as the country’s Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) where he made immense successes in improving the criminal justice system through the implementation of a robust anti-corruption strategy which uplifted the country’s anti-corruption image and profile.

Prior to his current position, JFK served in many high-profile positions after graduating in 1989 with an LLB (Hons) degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra and an LL.M, in International Comparative Law from the Southern Methodist University in Texas, USA.
JFK has served in many capacities and made great contributions with positive impacts on the country:

As the current Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Sierra Leone, JFK strengthened and popularised the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board (SLLAB), to uphold the fundamental freedoms of his countrymen by bringing justice and fair play to the doorsteps of the voiceless and the “forgotten-majority”.
September 30, 2016, JFK was Keynote Speaker at the International Humanitarian Law Dialogs, Nuremberg, Germany.
2010-2016: Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone.
April 2015: Honorary member of the Africa Union Advisory Board on Corruption.
JFK was First Vice-president of the West African Bar Association (WABA) and President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association.
2008: JFK was Deputy Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
1990: Prosecutor, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Sierra Leone Law Officers Department.
1990-2013: Member of the Sierra Leone Bar Association and lecturer in International Criminal Procedure and Practice at the Sierra Leone Law School.
