Entertainers laid Lamco Richie to rest

By Ibrahim Sorious Samura

‘We Miss You Lamco Richie’ were the inscriptions on most T-shirts worn by superstars and sympathisers to mark his departure from earth. Lamin Sesay aka Lamco Richie succumbed to death on the 2nd of June 2018 at the Caunnaught Hospital after a very long illness and was buried on the 4th of June 2018 at the Kissy Mess Mess Cemetery in Freetown.

Before his death, Lamco Richie was a very popular artist who got his breakthrough in 2016 after he released the song titled ‘Salone Music for Betteh’ featuring Danny Mo. This song was regarded by music lovers as a redemption song for the polarised Sierra Leone music industry. Richie pays regards to music legends before him with a very strong message of unification among entertainers. The song became an anthem and a signature tune for many Sierra Leoneans.

Richie was a very strong member of the East End Artists Union (EAU) as the Public Relations Officer. He also played armature football in the east end part of Freetown.

Following the announcement of his death by family members, over four tribute songs were released in 24 hours. News of his demise was received in shock.

Many celebs attended the burial service of the late man. They include Arkman, Sara De Great, Ragga Spice, Foyoh, Pizzy, Tiger Man, Master Ripo, Agnes Bokarie, DJ Kalloxx, Shuibu, Colabo, DJ Tamba B, Ambassador Bash, Rap Gee, Charlie Mahoi, Akim and a host of others.

Speaking to Salone Jamboree, Ambassador Muhammed Bashiru Sanusi aka Bash, a popular entertainment presenter on Star TV, lamented on Richie’s personality. He describes him as friendly persona who has earned his respect and popularity through humbleness and a calm demeanour. “It saddens me loosing another talented brother in the music industry,” he mourns.

He was also concerned with the frequent deaths the sector has suffered. “The industry is overwhelmed with frequent deaths of superstars,” he continued.

The President of the East End Artists Union, Artical Foyoh couldn’t hold his breath either. In tears, he describes the young man as ‘strong and loyal soldier who had always stood by his word.’ His death means a lot to the industry and the union he was representing,’ he said.

On how Richie can be remembered, Foyoh hinted on an annual ‘commemoration’ by his colleagues musicians.

The indefatigable All Stars President, Milton Coker popular on stage as Colabo, also told Salone Jamboree how he was deeply touched by the loss of Lamco Richie.
“Today is a sad day for us. As I speak, I speak with a heavy heart for the loss of our brother,” he said.
He noted the spate at which the industry is rapidly loosing its talents like Shine De God Son, Momoh Ranka, Richie etc. He describes Richie as a revolutionary artist who preached peace and unity within the industry in one of his popular songs. “We will always remember him like the Bob Marleys and other global legends for his music.”

Meanwhile, Colabo informed Salone Jamboree on his plans to have a vibrant industry that can match those of Nigeria and Ghana. He said the All Stars Group has developed a road map to actualize this dream.

The Entertainment Director of Citizens Radio, Ibrahim Kalokoh aka DJ Kalloxx was also in tears during the burial of Richie. Kalloxx was a very close friend to Richie. He was one the first to inform and solicit support for Richie’s illness.
“Richie left something behind that we will always remember him for, his music and good relationship with people,” he stated. Kalloxx vowed to constantly play Richie’s track on his radio programs as he has always be doing.
During the burial, Citizens Radio was shut down for couple of hours by the management in honour of the late man.

The All Stars Vice President, Ibrahim Habre aka Sara De Great was surprised to see a huge crowd at Lamco’s burial. In a radio interview, he stated that. …”had this crowd attended one of Richie’s shows, he wouldn’t have died a poor artist.” Let’s start paying tributes to the living rather the death,” he added.

Richie was deeply mourned by sympathisers, friends and family. His corpse was handled by his former teammates after a tough with the musicians as to who should take control. Through concensus, the corpse was handed over to his former teammates for procession to the cemetery after being prayed at the Wan Word Garage Mosque in Wellington.
Friends and family were left in tears and deep wailing as his remains was taken away. May his soul rest in peace.

Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo marries his long-time girlfriend Mawunya

Congratulations to Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo and wife on their traditional wedding yesterday (12th May 2018). Check out the beautiful photos as he marries his long-time secret girlfriend Mawunya. The wedding Happened somewhere around Spintex in Accra, Ghana.

The funny part this: they say marriage no be everything. Who said being single be everything or worth a dime? All of us have been single before. You cannot come and lie to us. We know how it feels. Stop selling it as if it’s something new. We all know the score.

The poignant smell of singleness can be detected from afar by us all. Because we have all been there and know what it comes with. For being married, you have not been before—so how do you know it’s not everything?

Anyone who will argue that having a stable partner in life is not better than being single or chasing someone’s husband is a lunatic.

Stop deceiving your own shadow!

John Dumelo, you’ve made a wise decision—let the slay and chop chop queens keep crying!

Rapper Stormzy supports overhaul of the Grenfell Tower public petition after calling Theresa May “criminal” in Brits performance

The musician took aim at the Prime Minister on Wednesday during the ceremony when he asked: “Yo Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell?”

Grime star Stormzy has backed calls for a shake-up of the Grenfell Tower public inquiry following his outburst at Theresa May at the Brit Awards.

The musician took aim at the Prime Minister on Wednesdayduring the ceremony when he asked: “Yo Theresa May, where’s the money for Grenfell?”

Today, he asked fans to support a petition launched by survivors which calls for a diverse panel to be appointed to the probe amid diminishing confidence in current chairman Sir Martin Moore-Bick.

It was turned down in December by Mrs May, who feared the inquiry’s work would be hindered by any overhaul.

Stormzy posted on Twitter on Friday: “This needs 100,000 signatures if you could please sign, share, RT and spread the word on it.”

The petition titled “Call on PM to take action to build public trust in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry” currently has just over 31,000 signatures and has previously won high-profile supporters including Adele.

The grime artist closed the awards ceremony at London’s O2 Arena with an emotional performance that saw him direct a pointed question at the Tory leader.

In a freestyle rap, he said: “Theresa May where’s the money for Grenfell? What you thought we just forgot about Grenfell?

“You criminals, and you’ve got the cheek to call us savages, you should do some jail time, you should pay some damages, you should burn your house down and see if you can manage this.”

KFC Forced To Close Two-Thirds Of Its Restaurants After Running Out Of Chicken

KFC has closed hundreds of stores across the UK after a problem with its delivery partner resulted in a serious chicken shortage. The fast food chain seemed to find the funny side, tweeting: “The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants.” On Sunday at 9pm less than one third of its restaurants – that’s just 263 of 900 branches – were open, according to the KFC website.

A statement from the food chain revealed: “We’ve brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems. Getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex! “We won’t compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours “Shout out to our restaurant teams who are working flat out to get us back up and running.”

It has since come to light that courier company DHL is responsible for the error. A DHL spokesperson told HuffPost UK: “Due to operational issues a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed. We are working with KFC and our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

After news of the shortage broke, people took to social media to share their dismay at the store’s closures, including KFC staff. One employee tweeted: “Think about all of us people who have no job today and aren’t getting paid because of this.”

Introducing the new Samsung Galaxy S9: out March 2018

Samsung will launch its new Galaxy S9 and S9+ flagship pair of smartphones, the follow-up to the popular Galaxy S8 range, in Barcelona on 25 February.

The new Samsung Galaxy S9 will launch in late February and by mid March it should be on sale. The Galaxy S9 is expected to have a 5.77-inch edge to edge display. The S9+ model will be slightly larger, possibly at 6.22-inch.

Currently the technology circles believe the Galaxy S9 is going to be an upgrade rather than a total redesign. This means better fingerprint sensor placement for example, Galaxy S8 users often smudge the camera lens when using this function. Another anticipated change is to the camera, Samsung has said, if a picture is worth a thousand words, the latest member of the Galaxy family has a lot to say, hinting it will incorporate Isocell camera sensors into the Galaxy S9. Isocell supports fast autofocus abilities that help to hone in on fast-moving objects, even in dim light. This upgrade enables the Galaxy S9 to have DSLR-like photo experiences.

The battery life is said to push beyond the 20 hour mark. This will be a huge advantage compared to the S8 which give 16 hours of usage time. The Galaxy S9 will also have fast charging ability, with just 15 minutes of charging, the phone will have 50% battery power.

What will the Samsung Galaxy S9 price be?

We were expecting £639 / $725 / AU$1200 – the same as the Galaxy S8 – to be the price of the new phone, but an industry insider has now told us the price will be upped to £789 in the UK. That may mean price hikes for other markets too.
Check out our website for more details when the phone is out on market..
