Interview with Bakarr King Conteh|CEO of BACS Video Production
Your Name: Bakarr King Conteh
What is your job title? CEO of BACS Video Production
Where are you currently base? Antwerpen- Belgium
How would you describe yourself? Born and raise in Sierra Leone from a respectable Muslim family. A true patriot of Sierra Leone with passion for my country flag. I am very humble social individual with passion for media, I studied media in the UK where I have established my brand (BACS Productions). Today I am well recognised by Sierra Leoneans for my work and am still on the process of developing my passion.
Role in the Sierra Leone Community: My role in my community is to inspire, love, teach and be a good role model.
Your Challenges: My challenges are to improve myself, not to disappointment those that I have inspired and to be a voice of the voiceless for Sierra Leoneans across the world. I want to be an example of good leadership in every role I take within my community.
Your proudest moment to date: My proudest moment to date is been a father and been able to show love and care for my wonderful children. I have been supportive since birth and up to date in their upbringing as every child need a good father figure.
Who inspires you? My mother inspires me a lot. My mother have spent her whole life taking care of me and my sister. Everything she has worked for is about us, she hardly think about herself. Love is a gift from God to man, she has delivered and have inspired me to do the same for my children. I follow her foot steps.
Why did you decide to do what you are doing now? I came to Belgium as a refugee from Sierra Leone; I was traumatised and disappointed by true negative publicity of my continent Africa and the way black people were portrayed to be in the West. I wanted to show the world the truth about my beautiful country and my God fearing people who have nothing but love and compassion.
The West never show that love, happiness and compassion, they only show the negative (hungry children, war, dusty road’s, under develop villages. I decided that the only way to change that conception is by telling our own stories and the only way to tell that story from a distance is through videos. I realised the Internet was an open access to promote my country, I therefore decided to travel to the UK and learn about media and video production in order to understand how to be productive in spreading the positive news of my country.
If you were not doing your current job, what did you wanted to do as a second option? Second option is been a Politician
Do you have any future dates planned such as events that you might want the readers to know about? I always have events on a monthly bases. I have established myself well within the society. I get events from across Europe and sometimes in Sierra Leone. So you see I travelled a lot. My events are continuously.
Your advice and tips for individuals that want to follow your footstep/career path? My advice for those I inspired is to follow their heart. Do not try to do something others do, do something you love and have passion to do. Be true to yourself and your heart and never look back when you finally find your true self. Follow my foot steps but try to be better than me.
